A TALENTED horse rider could soon be competing at the Paralympics after being awarded a place on a prestigious equestrian training scheme.

Georgia Wilson, 15, is joining up with the World Class Para Equestrian Development Programme, which supports future paralympians.

Her place on the course ends a sparkling year for the young rider, which included several wins and awards, as well as demonstrated her outstanding talent at the selection trials.

Georgia will also be one of the youngest paralympic hopefuls in the programme, which is open to riders aged 14-30 years old.

In order to be selected, Georgia had to complete a 3-stage selection process, including a written application, viewing and selection trials and an interview with the selection panel.

Georgia, a pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, has cerebral palsy but has been riding since she was four years old, demonstrating prodigious talent at an early stage.

Her first home international competition was in 2007, in Millfield, Somerset, and since then she has been going from strength to strength, now being another step closer to achieving her Olympic dream.
