COLWYN Bay manager Alan Morgan rued his side’s lack of conviction as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at Prescot Cables.

The Seagulls created numerous chances throughout the contests but only had one goal to show for their efforts, and they will be hoping for better fortune on Saturday when Bay travel to Colne (3pm).

Morgan said: “I’m disappointed with the goals we gave away and disappointed with some of our decision-making at vital moments.

“I thought we created a few chances but couldn’t put them away and in games like these against teams doing well in the league you’ve to take your chances.

“Overall we could have scored before they got their first, which would have been a great start, and there have been a lot of balls played across the six yard box which we haven’t capitalised on and when we had better options.

“I couldn’t fault the effort the lads put in second half, but we’ve clearly got some work to do and we’ve got to make sure our decision-making is better.”

The home side went ahead after six minutes when Chris Almond fired past Matt Cooper after good work by Dan Burn, but the visitors responded well to the setback and levelled matters on 15 Sam Barnes diverted a Gaz Grant effort into the net.

This provoked a strong spell for the hosts and they got their noses in-front for the second time on 33 minutes when Almond notched his brace thanks to another composed finished following a Lloyd Dean through ball.

Ashley Mullholland, Danny Bartle and Jack Hindle all spurned chances after the break, and they suffered the consequences on 82 minutes when a Dean header from a corner sealed victory for the home side.
