COLWYN Bay manager Alan Morgan has sealed his first signing of the transfer window with the signing of young midfielder Ethan Devine.

The 18-year-old midfielder joins the Seagulls from newly promoted Tranmere Rovers, where he reportedly turned down a professional contract to pursue his career elsewhere.

Devine came through the Academy system at Prenton Park without featuring in the first team, with the task of breaking into the senior set-up made more difficult with their return to SkyBet League Two.

Bay coach Neil Coverley revealed that the Evo-Stick League side beat off stern interest from six other clubs to secure his signature, and the former skipper also confirmed that a large number of current squad members have agreed to stay on for the upcoming campaign.

Goalkeeper Matt Cooper resisted overtures from elsewhere to sign a new deal, and the Supporters’ Player of the Year will be looking to continue his positive momentum after a standout season last term.

Also staying at the club are Kyle Jacobs and defender Gaz Grant, with the talented duo of Lass Mendes and Louis Barnes also signing new deals.

Kris Leigh, Luke Horrocks, Will Booth, Danny Andrews and Josh Brizell are other that have re-affirmed their commitment to the promotion hopefuls, while gifted midfielder Tom McCready will participate in his first full season at the Four Crosses Construction Arena after a hugely successful second half of the campaign after joining from AFC Fylde.

The Seagulls begin fitness training once a week on June 6 prior to the official start of pre-season on June 30.
