A CRICKET prodigy will be looking for further regional recognition ahead of the new season.

Arran Sen, a Year 7 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, will be part of a nine-week training programme with the Lancashire youth set-up ahead of possible selection to the U12 squad.

The 12-year-old has been part of the county’s U10 and U11 sides in recent years and will move on to the second stage of trials once the sessions have concluded.

The bowling all-rounder has been working hard on his game with Menai Bridge captain Dion Holden and coach Lee Williams during the school’s winter nets programme, where he has progressed to facing deliveries of 78 miles per hour.

Sen, said: “My leg spin has come on very well since I joined Rydal Penrhos, and I have absolutely no regrets about joining the school as I have really loved the experience.

“Hopefully I can do well during the training sessions to get picked for the Lancashire U12 side, as I have enjoyed being part of the county teams in the past and got a lot out of it.”

The boarding pupil is planning to join Liverpool and District Premier Division side Colwyn Bay ahead of the new season, and will also turn out for Stretford during the summer once the academic year has concluded.

Head of Cricket Mike Leach, added: “Arran has an enormous amount of potential to go very far, and he has thrown himself into every aspect of coaching he has received which has aided his development considerably.

“He is loving life here at Rydal Penrhos which is also a testament to his character and all this bodes very well for the future.”
