AN Indian cricket legend and TV analyst paid a special visit to a Colwyn Bay school last week.

Aakash Chopra, who was part of the legendary India team that also featured Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag, visited Rydal Penrhos on Monday, March 5.

During his stay Mr Chopra was given a guided tour of the impressive facilities at Rydal Penrhos by Deputy Head Tim Cashell, before enjoying the new Holroyd Howe catering provision at the school during lunch.

A number of the most talented cricketers then got the chance to ask the former international a variety of questions during a 45-minute question and answer session, where Mr Chopra discussed everything from preparation, altering his batting style during India games and even picking out his all-time world XI.

Rafeez Mortuza, Llewelyn Cowell, Arran Sen, Anthony Bowe, Sam Bixby, Jacob Cousins, Josh Stewart, Aaron Sherrington and Ben Davies then posed for pictures with the ESPN analyst.

Mr Cashell, said: “It was a real privilege to have Aakash here for a visit, which I know our aspiring cricketers got a great deal out of.

“To hear first-hand from someone that played for arguably the most talented Indian team in history is an incredible honour and invaluable in terms of their overall development.

“Aakash offered some great advice to each on things such as preparing the right way, training methods and mentally readying yourself for a big occasion, so hopefully it will stand them in good stead ahead of the new season, which promises to bring with it a great deal of individual and team success.”
