CONWY picked up one win from their two contests during a busy Bank Holiday weekend of action.

Rajjenu Britto’s side secured a six-run home victory over in-form Dolgellau on Saturday, before falling to a convincing defeat at Llay Welfare in their Monday clash.

Saturday’s clash saw the home side set a modest total of 109 all out from a difficult 43 overs at the crease, with the skipper top scoring with 28 before he was trapped lbw by Phil Leeds.

Other double figure scores came from Evan Williams (21) and Jonathan Davies, while James Bradbury-Willis and Jack Williamson both took three wickets apiece for the visitors for the combined loss of 56 runs.

The away side’s run chase got off to 17 and 38 from the opening partnership of Gareth Lanagan and Sion Francis, but the rest of the batting order was decimated thanks to scintillating spells from Graham Meredith and Patrick Jelley.

Meredith managed to help himself to three wickets at the expense of 29 runs, with Jelley going one better and ending a superb 12 overs with figures of 4-40.

This proved to be the difference between the two sides, and Stan Senior clean bowled Jack Williams for a duck to give the hosts a narrow win as Dolgellau made just 103 in reply.

Britto’s men will look to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they welcome Bersham, who come into the game in good form after securing victory over fancied Mochdre.
