LLANDUDNO were beaten twice during a busy weekend of league and cup action.

The North Wales Cricket League Premier Division side fell to a narrow two-run reverse at Hawarden Park on Saturday, before falling to a heavy 159-run loss at Northop in the Welsh Cup on Sunday.

Jack Rimmington’s men will be hoping for better fortune this Saturday when they welcome Northop to The Oval.

A standout performance from Tudno bowler Matthew Jones was the highlight of Tudno’s time in the field against Park, who claimed four scalps for the loss of 46 runs during a fantastic 12-over spell.

Rimmington also produced figures of 3-35 to aide his side’s cause, while Campbell Marr finished unbeaten on 74 as the home side set a target of 161 all out from 49 overs at the crease.

Wicket Keegan Armstrong gave the visitors a fighting chance of securing a victory with a stylish 74, but no other batsman made a significant score of note as they fell agonisingly short of reaching their required total and ended on 159 with four balls to spare.

They were unable to get back to winning ways at the earliest opportunity in their cup loss against Northop, who has a superb century knock of 105 not out from Ben Beaver to thank for their formidable final score of 261-4.

The visitors never got close to reaching their target despite an encouraging 37 from opener Kevin James, with Sam Rimmington hitting 30 before he was eventually dismissed at the hands of Beaver.

Only Tom Thornton (14) managed to make it into double figures thereafter as the Lions finished on 102-8 in reply.

Their second unit also tasted defeat as a 73 from Andrew Davies condemned them to an eight wicket home defeat to Conwy.
