A SUPERB knock from new signing Keegan Armstrong guided Llandudno to a four-wicket home success over North Wales Cricket League Premier Division rivals Northop.

The wicketkeeper turned in his best innings at The Oval since joining the club in the spring to lead his side to their second win of the campaign, and Jack Rimmington’s men will look to take this positive momentum into next Saturday’s pivotal trip to unbeaten Menai Bridge.

The newly promoted outfit made a promising start until Rimmington disposed of Harry Lewis on 24, while fellow opener Tom Blackwell was clean bowled by Matthew Jones after contributing 23.

Danial Evans then got in on the act with the prized wicket of Matty Williams for a duck, with Andrew Christian disposing of the dangerous duo of Ben Beaver (36) and Gareth Williams (34) at a crucial stage of the contest.

The wickets continued to tumble as Tom Thornton helped himself to a brace with the scalps of Mohammad Khan (0) and Bart Beswick (1) in quick succession to end the day with figures of 2-58, but double figure scores from James Roberts (19), Andy Poynton (16) and Danny Nicholson (23) ensured the visitors set a target of 190 all out from 49.4 overs.

Tudno’s run chase got off to a poor start as Evans was removed by Tom Blackwell after making just two, and Jones was also out cheaply for 18 after threatening to make a big score.

Armstrong then turned the game on its head with a masterful shot selection throughout eventually ending the day on 90 not out off 139 delivers, which included nine boundaries.

He was aided at the other end by Sam Rimmington and Kevin James, who both his 25 apiece, and despite Beswick ending the day on 3-39 it was not enough to prevent the hosts from reaching their required target after 47 overs at the crease.

Second team skipper David Barlow smashed 91 in their 46-run triumph at Dolgellau, with Luke Summer hitting 77 and Jake Sumbland finishing with figures of 2-27.
