HOLYHEAD Hotspur’s concerning run of Huws Gray Alliance results continued with a heavy 5-1 reverse at Denbigh Town.
A season that promised much for the Holy Islanders is rapidly declining into mediocrity thanks to a series of disappointing defeats, and Campbell Harrison’s side have the chance to put things right this Saturday when they travel to Flint Town United.
Although the final result was a comprehensive one, the first half was fairly even with Town just having the one goal advantage heading into the break, which came courtesy of Kristian Pierce after 20 minutes.
Recent signing Jamie McDaid fired a leveller past Jonathan Hill-Dunt after a neat passage of play on 51 minutes, but this joy proved to be short lived as the home side restored their lead immediately following the restart with a Craig Pritchard effort on 53.
This was swiftly followed by Matthew Worral marking his first appearance for Eddie Maurice-Jones’ side with a goal on 66 minutes, before Pritchard drilled his second of the evening soon after on 72.
The Welsh futsal international missed a golden opportunity to complete his hat-trick towards the end of the contest, but the hosts piled even more misery on the Anglesey side on 84 minutes when Worral capped off an eye-catching debut with another well taken effort to put the exclamation point on proceedings.
The result leaves Harrison’s men in tenth spot and 13 points outside the top six with just a handful of games remaining.
