A YOUTHFUL Llandudno Junction were shown no mercy by Huws Gray Alliance title hopefuls Holywell Town in an 8-0 away drubbing.

The Railwaymen had just three senior figures available for selection for their midweek clash against Johnny Haseldin’s men, and they must now win their remaining four games to stand any chance of avoiding an instant return to the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance.

Manager Chris Morrell, said: “I am gutted for the young lads after that.

“To have only three first teamers' available against an outstanding Holywell side is tough to take, but the youngsters never stopped working for each other and it was a good experience for them to learn from.”

Shaun Tuck got the ball rolling for the Wellmen by firing in the opener after ten minutes, and they doubled their lead on 27 when Jon Jones reacted to Tom Hooson mishandling a corner to prod home from close range.

Things got even better for the home side just before the break when Mark Winslade converted an opportunity on 42 minutes, and the prolific Sam Jones was on hand to seal the points after the break on 55.

Despite a spirited effort from the visitors throughout, they found it difficult to deal with a pacey home side who were ruthless in the second period, and Lee Davey was beneficiary of some more fine approach play with a quick-fire brace on 65 and 78 minutes, which was sandwiched in-between a Matt Harvey effort.

There was still time for the hosts to put the exclamation point on proceedings, with Paul Williams rounding off the scoring three minutes from time to complete the rout.
