HOLYHEAD Hotspur should look no further than Warren Gibbs in their search for a new manager.

The Holy Islanders have big shoes to fill following the announcement that Campbell Harrison is set to step down as boss after five largely successful seasons that have brought some fantastic highlights.

It was a campaign of underachievement for the Huws Gray Alliance outfit, who boasted a wealth of talented young individuals that had the capability to finish much higher.

Injuries, suspensions and unavailability played a huge part in their downfall, and maybe the time is no right for some fresh ideas at the New Stadium to give them the best possible chance of succeeding next term.

That is where Gibbs comes into play. He is a well-respected figure in the Anglesey and North Wales region and provided he is willing to take the job, he should be strongly considered by the Spurs’ boardroom.

His incredible success at Glantraeth highlighted his reputation as one of the brightest young managers in the area, and although they were unable to accept their place in the Huws Gray Alliance there is no reason to suggest Gibbs cannot be just as profitable in the second tier.

It is going to be a decision that the club must get right to avoid the likes of John Littlemore, Kenleigh Owen and Mel McGinness seeking pastures new, but having someone like Gibbs on board would be a huge shot in the arm for a squad that looked devoid of confidence during the second half of the campaign.

Harrison will be a tough act to follow after a standout two spells at the Holy Islanders, where he achieved a wealth of high league finishes in addition to a historic JD Welsh Cup giantkilling over Bangor City.

The blow would definitely be softened by Gibbs, who did some incredible work with the likes of Matty Lock and Corrig McGonigle during his time at Traeth, which will stand him in good stead should be offered the challenge at a club with an enormous amount of potential.

Time will tell as to who they choose as their man to take them forward, but when devising a list of possible candidates Gibbs should definitely be on the list.
