HOLYHEAD Hotspur boss Darren Garmey has further strengthened his squad with the signing of Caio Hywel.

The talented young defender arrives at the Huws Gray Alliance side from third tier surprise package Llanberis, and he is a product of the hugely successful Bangor City Academy.

He is currently studying at the University of Liverpool and has been travelling back to play for the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One outfit at weekends, and he is the latest young prospect to be given a chance in the highly-competitive second tier at The New Stadium.

Garmey, said: “Caio first caught my eye three years ago when playing for Bangor City Reserves.

“He is a big presence and a great ball playing defender. Having kept in touch over the last 12 months, then getting to know his in more depth for the last four weeks or so it is clear that he is a good honest lad and the sort we look to bring to our club.”

Hywel joins a Spurs’ squad that underachieved significantly last season under Campbell Harrison, who left his position to take over as Ynys Mon Men’s football team ahead of the 2019 Island Games.

Key figures such as John Littlemore and Tomos Clarke has already re-affirmed their commitment to the cause, while bringing in goalkeeper Carl Jones and Jamie Roberts from Prestatyn Town and Conwy Borough respectively.

More announcements regarding player personnel are expected over the weekend.
