LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams praised his side’s commitment as they picked up a 0-0 home draw with high-flying Cardiff Met.

The Tudno boss had to make some significant adjustments after being owerawed in the early stages, and he credited the work-ethic and desire of his squad in what was their first JD Welsh Premier League contest of a busy Christmas schedule.

He said: “I am happy with a point to a degree because I thought the writing was on wall in the early stages as we were all over the place, but we adapted well and grew into the game.

“They threw us with the two false nines that they implemented and though Shaun (Cavanagh) and Danny (Hughes) worked their socks off. Adaptation is massive in football and it is a good point against a good side.

“I will keep on them but there is only so much we can do over the festive period unlike full-time teams, so we have to trust in the players to look after themselves and everyone is looking forward to the next couple of weeks.

“It was always going to be graveyard shift for Lee (Thomas) and he blew a gasket towards the end but he gave us a fantastic work rate and same for Cav on his own upfront. You can talk all day about technical ability but if you have men who run through brick walls then that is a huge bonus too.

“Dave (Roberts) is a professional and has been around a long time. This is not my team so it’s important I get to see everyone with January around the corner and he made a great save towards the end but we had our chances too.”

Cavanagh went close at either end during a first period where chances were at a premium, while Roberts pulled off a smart double save midway through the period to ensure both sides had all to play for at the break.

The same pattern continued after the interval with both sides cancelling each other out for the most part, with Mike Williams coming closest for the hosts and Jordan Lam forcing another sublime stop from Roberts in the closing stages.
