UNBEATEN Conwy Borough returned from the Christmas break with a convincing 5-0 win at St Asaph City.

The Tangerines got off to the best possible start and went ahead after just two minutes when Cory Williams fired home after a brief spell of good possession.

Gareth Thomas’ unbeaten side were in rampant mood throughout the contest and they doubled their advantage on 37 minutes when Jack Hoult finished well, and they wrapped up the points a minute after the break when the prolific Corrig McGonigle continued his sensational season with another well-taken effort.

A long-range strike from Jamie Roberts on 77 minutes gave Boro’ a fourth during another sustained foray on the City goal, and it was left to McGonigle to round off the scoring on 83 from the penalty spot to condemn the home side to a disappointing defeat and give the title hopefuls an eighth consecutive league victory on their travels.

Llandudno Albion also came back from the lay-off in superb form with an eye-catching 8-1 rout of Llanberis.

The in-form Dave Maddox fired in a hat-trick on another sensational day at the office, with Harry Roberts, Joe Carey, Adam Hold, Joel Lloyd and Dan Evans also finding the target.

A polished display from Llanrwst United saw them emerge from their home clash with Nantlle Vale 4-1 victors thanks to efforts from Leighton Griffiths, Aaron Hughes, Morgan Owen and Callum Parry, but they did suffer a blow with striker Mike Lundstram going off with a calf injury.

Division Two leaders Glan Conwy extended their advantage with a 2-0 triumph at nearby rivals Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

Second half strikes from Gareth Davies and Clive Lloyd sees their lead surge to 13 points from Prestatyn Sports, who now have eight games in hand following yet another postponement.
