STRUGGLING Llandudno Junction have parted company with manager Iain Bennett.

The departing boss leaves his post after 18 months in the role, where he guided the side to Huws Gray Alliance promotion after Glantraeth refused to enter the second tier.

Things have not gone according to plan at the Arriva Stadium this term, with the Railwaymen yet to pick up a league victory and currently sit at the foot of the standings and five points adrift of safety.

Denley Smith and Mark Hughes have been put in temporary charge of first team affairs ahead of their tough test against Denbigh Town on Saturday.

A club statement, said: “Llandudno Junction FC wish to announce that with immediate effect they have parted company with first team manager Iain Bennett.

“We wish to thank Iain for the last 18 months during which he steered the club to play in the highest league in the club’s history The Cymru Alliance, for this we will be forever grateful.

“The club would like to wish Iain all the best for what we are sure will be a very successful future.

“This season has been a tough test for the club both on and off the field with Tier 2 football being such a huge step.

“The club have had to review our position with next season in mind and after achieving the promotion this year we knew there were works to be carried out, however we were not expecting the recent news from the FAW regarding pitch criteria.

“After been passed it appears our pitch length does not satisfy that of the league, despite this not changing for the coming season.

“This will mean that sustaining Tier 2 football is out of our hands, despite that we will be working as hard as we can until the end of the season to gain as many points as possible and to prepare for the 2018/19 season.”
