Tributes have been paid to a Llandudno Football Club stalwart who died this week.

Tony Healy, who is a long-serving committee member, supporter and volunteer at the JD Welsh Premier League side, died suddenly on Saturday morning just hours before he was due to travel to watch his beloved Tudno take on Newtown.

A club statement, said: “Llandudno Football Club are extremely shocked, stunned, and saddened by the news that supporter, volunteer, and committee member Tony Healy has suddenly passed.

“Tony was an extremely valued member of Llandudno Football Club and was a genuine, heart-warming individual. His positivity and love for life was inspirational to those around him, and will be sorely missed by everyone who crossed his path.

“We offer our sincere condolences to Tony’s family at this time.”

Llandudno boss Iwan Williams was one of a plethora of people paying tribute to the community figure, who held a lifelong passion for the club and even had a logo of the Llandudno FC crest on his work van.

"A devastating blow hearing of Tony Healy’s passing. A true Llandudno FC fan who devoted everything to our football club,” added Williams.

“Gutted we couldn’t get the result for him and all the Llandudno supporters who were fantastic throughout.”

Mr Healy, a father of two, was honoured by the Tudno supporters who sang his name throughout their narrow defeat to the Robins.

Former assistant manager Craig Hogg, who knew Mr Healy as a player and staff member, added: “Shocked and really saddened to hear the news of the passing of Tony Healy. Will never forget the support he gave week in week out during my time at the club.

“Thoughts are with his family and friends. God bless you Tony.”

Tudno FM, where Mr Healy was a regular contributor and had his own breakfast show, also released a statement, saying: “He was larger than life, always positive and never let anything get him down. As soon as he walked into the building and that booming voice said 'yall right Jaynie hows it going luv' you couldn't help but smile.

“He loved the station and just wanted everyone to listen in and enjoy being part of it. He was a massive part of Tudno FM and there will be a huge void without his character and enthusiasm.”
