LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams said the “hard work starts now” after his side secured their JD Welsh Premier League status.

The club confirmed their place in the top flight with a workmanlike 1-0 victory over Aberystwyth Town, which finally got them over the line ahead of what is going to be an extremely busy summer at the Giant Hospitality Stadium.

Williams, said: “I thought we had the game under control besides ten minutes in the second half. My team talk was about aggression and tempo, and we did very well to keep a clean sheet and I will take that all day.

“To nick one at the end to secure safety thanks to a fantastic strike from Matty (Williams) and everything in background with Tony (Healy) it was very pleasing.”

The Tudno boss expressed his relief to achieve safety during a season of transition after taking over from Alan Morgan, and he has now challenged the squad to prove they deserve a place at the club in their remaining three league fixtures.

“It means a great deal to be safe, there were a few issues when I came in and it was a challenge to keep the players motivated to compete in the bottom six,” he added.

“It’s been stressful for me but it’s a challenge I have embraced and I have also learnt to deal with losing games.

“There is a massive summer ahead of me now as the club the size of Llandudno to finish where they have for the last two years is just not good enough. Players will come in and the philosophy will change, but something has to be done to get us up the table.

“I want to thank the supporters for their patience and it is a clean slate now. The next three games will give me a chance to rotate and the players will need to step up and show that they belong at the football club.”
