COLWYN Bay face a do-or-die home clash against Trafford on Thursday in their bid for an Evo-Stik North playoff spot.

The Seagulls suffered a 3-1 reverse at Droylsden on Tuesday night to begin their gruelling final week of action, and manager Alan Morgan called for his side to show mental and physical strength ahead of the pivotal game against the sixth-placed side.

He said: “There are two really big games left and we’ve got to see who is the strongest now both mentally and physically.

“The players have to dust themselves down and not worry about the knocks and strains they are carrying until after these games; anyone feeling sorry for themselves might as well not turn up.”

“I’m not going to make excuses. Droylsden played Saturday like us, but we struggled against their pace and we struggled against their legs and we’ve got to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

“The problem we have is that we are not putting two performances together. We win one and then lose one and we have to sort that out.”

The home side have proved to be a bogey side for Bay having beaten them twice already this term, and they went ahead on 44 minutes when Luke Caddick found the net from a tight angle after fine approach play from Sefton Gonzales.

Bay stopper Matt Cooper pulled off two fine saves to keep his side in the contest soon after, and the visitors levelled matters on 69 minutes when in-form striker Jack Hindle continued his exceptional recent efforts with another well-taken effort.

This joy proved to be short-lived as the hosts got back on top immediately following the restart courtesy of a Levi Phillips strike, and with the away side throwing caution to the wind in the closing stages Gonzales broke clear in stoppage time to condemn the Seagulls to defeat.
