LLANDUDNO have received a huge boost with the news that Danny Hughes has signed a contract extension.

The hometown hero has penned a deal until 2020 and the midfield talisman has already set his sights on improving the club’s fortunes on the pitch next term, which will be the first full season with manager Iwan Williams at the helm.

Hughes, said: “It was an easy decision for me to extend my stay here, everyone knows my love for the club, the town, and the fans here, but I will always only sign if I believe in what the club have going for them.

“It’s been a difficult year with the changes and I think people can see changes are needed. I believe that it’s going in a good direction moving forward under Iwan, and I back the club and the management we have here 100 per cent.”

The news will come as a welcome boost to everyone associated with the club, who recently released the high profile duo of Marc and Mike Williams ahead of what is expected to be a hugely busy summer of activity.

“I know some of the players have already announced that they’re leaving the club and off to pastures new, but that happens in football, we’ve been lucky in one sense to have the same group of lads here for a fair period of time in which we’ve achieved good things but now we should look forward to what the future has to hold,” added Hughes.

“Iwan always emphasises on dealing with adversity, and as a club we’ve had to do that many times, everyone involved in the club have been challenged in the past six months in some way and will continue to do so, but as a club we will deal with it over the summer and kick off together as a club, as a town, and as a group of fans come August and hopefully get the buzz back around the place.”
