LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams has pulled off another huge transfer coup with the signing of Steve Thomas from Holywell Town.

The talented full-back becomes Tudno’s ninth signings of the current transfer window and leaves Halkyn Road following a trophy laden spell spanning more than a decade.

Thomas turned down offers from newly promoted JD Welsh Premier League club Caernarfon Town, in addition to second tier sides Airbus Broughton and Rhyl before signing on at the Giant Hospitality Stadium.

He was arguably the most consistent defender operating outside of the top flight last term, and he becomes the latest former Holywell star to sing for the club after the signing of goalkeeper Shaun Pearson last week.

Williams, said: “I’m delighted that Steve has decided to join us after being highly sought after by other Welsh Premier League and strong Cymru Alliance clubs.

“He has been a player I’ve admired for a very long time and comes in after spending ten years at Holywell; a club he captained.

“To spend so long at Holywell says a lot about his loyalty traits however he now believes it’s the right time for him to come and test himself in the JD Welsh Premier League, and thankfully that’s with us.

“He’s a strong left sided player and is very versatile. He’s a leader who works hard and again fits the identity we want to create.

“He’s been one of Holywell’s stand out performers for a number of years and was the Huws Gray Alliance player of the season a couple of years back.

“I’m looking forwards to working with Steve and I know he’ll be an instant success.”

Thomas joins Michael Pearson, Kai Edwards, Damian Ketley, Zyaac Edwards, Dan Westwood, Zebb Edwards and Shaun Pearson as new arrivals, while Jay Gibbs, Danny Hughes and Toby Jones have all agreed extensions The Tudno boss also handed a first senior contract to Anthony Marshall after a successful spell at Llandudno Albion last season.
