LLANDUDNO have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of David Thompson from Bala Town.

The talented winger arrives at the Giant Hospitality Stadium until the end of the season and is eligible for Saturday’s crucial clash against Aberystwyth Town as Iwan Williams’ men look to retain their JD Welsh Premier League status.

The Tudno boss, said: “We needed to strengthen the squad to give us every opportunity of ending the season well.

“Thommo comes in with a wealth of experience and has the tenacity and athleticism we lack. Adding to the squad at any point of the season should be looked upon as a positive move and bringing him in will add competition.

“Thommo is quick and direct and has a bit of nous about him. It’s an exciting signing and I’d like to place on record my thanks to Colin Caton and Ste Fisher at Bala for allowing him to come on board to end the season with us.”

Attention now turns to Saturday’s home encounter with Aber, who sit just one spot and two points below Llandudno in the standings with just a handful of games remaining, and can leapfrog the former Europa League qualifiers with a win on their travels.

Williams stated that confidence is “low” within his squad, but has challenged them to win any way they can in order to get them over the line.

“Win ugly would please me more than a convincing win at the moment,” he added.

“Confidence is low but it’s hard to put your finger on why because the morale in training is very good. It’s vital that we now dust ourselves down and re-group.

“We will prepare immaculately for the game against Aberystwyth and do everything we can in order to get a positive performance and some points on the board.

“We have four games to go and the players need to perform rather than let the season see itself out because there is still a lot for them to play for.

“When I came in there was a sense of stagnation so we tried to freshen things up however we could.

“It’s been a difficult period for me and not the best football for the fans to see, however if we secure our place in this league then I’ll repay them with their faith throughout this transition period next season.”
