LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams has wasted no time in making big changes at the club ahead of his first full season at the helm.

It has been an extremely busy summer of transfer activity already at the Giant Hospitality Stadium, with the talented young boss and assistant Matty Williams keen to bring in their own players and re-establish the one-time European qualifiers as a JD Welsh Premier League force.

This week along Williams has brought in three significant arrivals with plenty of experience at the highest level, while a number of key existing squad members have also bought into his way of thinking and agreed to remain with the set-up.

The acquisition of defensive duo Kai Edwards and Mike Pearson from Connah’s Quay represents a real coup for the club, and manager Andy Morrison’s reaction to the deal tells you in no uncertain terms just how much he wanted them to remain at The Nomads.

With influential centre half Mike Williams recently released, Edwards and Pearson will fill a huge void and should make them very hard to break down, which was not the case at times during the second half of the campaign.

They have also brought in reinforcements at the other end of the pitch with the arrival of Damian Ketley from Prestatyn Town, who is a huge physical presence that no defender likes playing against due to his ability.

While he may not provide the same amount of goals as the departed Marc Williams, Ketley is a good hold-up option that the likes of Toby Jones and others can link up with and feed off, which will be a significant asset to call upon throughout the season.

Midfield playmaker Jay Gibbs has also agreed to stay on at the club, and Williams is a huge believer in his abilities and he could be a wildcard with a good pre-season under his belt providing he stays free of suspensions.

The pair have built a fantastic relationship during their time working together and the manager does seem to get the best out of the mercurial talent, and having Danny Hughes around the squad should provide Gibbs with a role model to aspire to be, given his experience and ability to perform on a consistent basis.

There is sure to be plenty more activity in the coming weeks, with the brother duo of Zyaac and Zebb Edwards reportedly agreeing to join from Prestatyn Town, while full-back James Joyce may have played his last game for the club as he looks set to join up with former boss Alan Morgan at Colwyn Bay.

Regardless of what happens in the coming weeks, Williams is proving he is more than capable of attracting big names into the Tudno fold, and this will hopefully bring with it a much-improved showing next time around.
