Seb Larsson insists there will be no room for sentiment on his return to the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland host Hull in a huge clash at the bottom of the Championship on Saturday, with Larsson going back to Wearside for the first time since he left the Black Cats for the Tigers last summer.

One win in 14 league matches has left Hull hovering just one point above the relegation zone and a victory for bottom-of-the-table Sunderland would see them move level on points with their opponents.

Larsson made 203 appearances and scored 14 goals in all competitions during a six-year stay with Sunderland.

“I’m sure there’ll be some emotions on game day,” said Larsson.

“It’s a club where I spent a large part of my career, but that doesn’t matter when I step over the white line.”

Quoted on Hull’s website, Swedish midfielder Larsson added: “My only focus will be on helping Hull City get a three vital points. I care about Hull City, I represent Hull City and that’s all that matters to me.”

The rest of the teams towards the bottom end of the table all face tough games against sides harbouring play-off ambitions.

Birmingham’s defeat to Derby halted a three-match winning run and they will attempt to bounce back at Deepdale against Preston, who have lost only one of their last 11 Championship matches.

Burton were also beaten last weekend and they travel to Fulham, who have flown up the table on the back of seven wins from their last 10 league outings.

Bolton’s decent home form is keeping their necks above water and they host an Ipswich team whose away record is preventing them from getting closer to the top six. Mick McCarthy’s men have lost eight of their last 11 games on the road.

Barnsley are unbeaten in four games, including three draws, and they travel to Aston Villa where Steve Bruce’s home side will be chasing a fourth straight league victory.

Leaders Wolves will attempt to extend their unbeaten run in the Championship to 14 games when they tackle Nottingham Forest.

Cardiff ended a four-match losing streak with a thumping win against Sunderland and they travel to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday, with Jos Luhukay looking for his first league success as Owls boss.

Sheffield United travel to a Norwich side who have hit a little bit of form while Leeds remain without a win in 2018 and they host Millwall.

Middlesbrough face QPR away while Brentford, with four wins in their last five league games, travel to Reading.
