A YOUNG skiing sensation made a sensational start to a regional competition recently.

Xavier Poynton, a Year 2 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, enhanced his growing reputation with a standout showing at the North Wales Snowsports Club Race Series, which saw him claim two accolades from the event.

The first round of the series saw the seven-year-old produce a series of exceptional runs to come away with the first place in the U8 Boys’ category in convincing style.

There was further good news for Xavier as he was also named the fastest boy overall thanks to his stunning effort.

The ambitious pupil has enjoyed an enormous amount of success on the slopes since joining Rydal Penrhos, where each pupil is offered Skiing at a very early age.

This is something Xavier has grasped with both hands, and has gone on to achieve regional and national accolades over the last 12 months.

Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “What Xavier has managed to achieve in his short time skiing as part of our programme has been nothing short of extraordinary, and this fantastic performance bodes very well for upcoming competitions.

“He has an incredible amount of natural talent and enthusiasm which is being nurtured the right way, and the sky is the limit in terms of what he can achieve in the future.”
