LLANDUDNO sailors took to the water for the latest in the high-profile Salisbury Series.

Bank holiday Sunday's mini heatwave gave the contingent the first real opportunity to discard their usual layers of weatherproof clothing and enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine out on the water.

With only a very gentle breeze blowing, the upwind legs of the two races of the continuing Salisbury Series were shortened to allow the sailors to complete more than one lap. However, this meant that a poor start would be punished by limited opportunities to make up ground later on.

Surprisingly it was star sailor Paul Moreton who lost out in the starting melee in the first race and then struggled to catch Kevin Parkin in his Supernova.

Kevin held off Paul to take first place, with Peter Fisk slipping in neatly to take third.

Paul was never going to get caught the same way again and made a good start to the second race. His experience of reading and sailing the incoming tide brought him home in first place ahead of Kevin and Peter.

After six races of the Salisbury Series, Peter Fisk leads the table, with Kevin Parvin in second place and veteran Rob Davies in third in his Laser Radial.
