FOUR talented young sailors continued their sensational recent run of results with national titles.

Ewan Luke and Zac Blomeley, together with the brother duo of Kevin and Liam Farrell, emerged victorious from their respective competitions at the RYA Welsh Youth National Championships, which were held at Pwllheli Sailing Club.

Ewan and Zac, aged 16 and 17, added to their outstanding list of accolades with a standout effort in the 29er class, which secured first place for the GBR Youth Sailing squad members.

The pair have been working incredibly hard as part of Rydal Penrhos School’s programme over the winter months under the expert tutelage of Max Todd, while their experience as part of the national squad has also aided their progression considerably.

There was further cause for celebration in the form of Year 10 and 6 brothers Kevin and Liam, who are also riding on the crest of a wave and sealed the RS Feva class in stunning fashion to make it a notable national double for pupils at the school.

The Farrell’s have been thriving as part of the Llandudno Sailing Club set-up in recent months, and both have benefitted considerably from competing against older and more experienced opposition on a weekly basis.

Allen Boyd, director of sport at Rydal Penrhos, said: “This is yet further proof of the fantastic amount of sailing talent we have here at Rydal Penrhos, and huge congratulations go to Ewan, Zac, Kevin and Liam on their continued success on the national stage.

“All four possess a great deal of determination and a natural chemistry in pairs that has played a significant role in the achievements gained over the years, and there is plenty of cause for optimism in terms of what they can achieve in the future.”
