RGC head coach Mark Jones praised the impact of his substitutes after they secured a 27-21 win over Bedwas.

The Gogs were made to work hard for their success in front of the S4C cameras at Stadiwm Zip World, with the home side keeping themselves in the Principality Premiership title hunt after returning to winning ways.

Jones, said: “I thought it was a much better performance in the second half after being down at the break. The boys that came on did a really good job of improving the scrum and this bred a great deal of confidence throughout the team which was pleasing.

“We are still a bit expensive in terms of our turnover in the 22 which let them off the hook but it was a much-improved performance in terms of our accuracy.”

The championship contenders play their final away game of the season this Saturday when they make the trip to Ebbw Vale, before closing out the campaign on home soil against current leaders Merthyr and Newport.

“We have got a schedule of really tough games coming up and every point you earn could be crucial at the end of the day,” added Jones.

“It is good to see us still trying to play that brand of rugby, we may not be succeeding as much as we have in previous games but the lads aren’t shying away from it as it is in their DNA.

“They all get excited about it, sometimes too excited at times but it is great to see.”
