A NUMBER of RGC senior squad members were honoured at their annual Presentation Evening this week.

The Gogs have enjoyed another fine season in the Principality Premiership that saw them in championship contention for the majority of the campaign, and everyone associated with the club gathered for the glitzy ceremony on Sunday, May 27.

Talented back Tiaan Loots, who will join Newport Gwent Dragons this summer, was the big winner on the night and received the Player of the Year distinction thanks to a series of outstanding displays.

Squad mainstay Evan Yardley was another standout performer this term and scooped the Players’ Player of the Year for his contribution, while the incredible progression demonstrated by Robin Williams saw him crowed the Most Improved Player of the Year.

Wales 7s international Afon Bagshaw won the Try of the Season for his incredible score against eventual champions Merthyr, and rounding off the successes was centre Tom Hughes, who took home the Supporters’ Player of the Year honour.

Attention now turns to preparations for their third season in the top flight as they look to mount another title challenge, but they will be without the services of Loots, Jacob Botica and Alex Schwartz, who are all departing Stadiwm Zip World as they attempt to establish themselves in the professional game.
