NANT Conwy remain at the WRU National League Division One North summit after a resounding 49-20 triumph over Bro Ffestiniog.

This was the third time that the title challengers had downed a spirited Bro side in various competitions this season, and their tenth win in 11 contests ensures they remain eight points clear of nearest challengers Bala and reigning champions Pwllheli.

The hosts came out with a fierce purpose and took the lead early on courtesy of an unconverted try from Arthur Lennon after just four minutes, and the same player was on hand to increase their advantage with a pair of well-struck penalties on 16 and 23.

Gradually Bro began to get a foothold in the contest and they were rewarded for their improved play with their first score on 25 minutes through Huw Parry, but Nant responded well to the setback and restored their cushion when Morgan Dafydd crossed the shite wash on 34 with Lennon adding the extras.

James reduced the arrears yet again with a penalty on 38 minutes for the visitors, but the home side continued their impressive attacking play shortly after the break when Robin Glyn touched down on 42 following a brief period of pressure.

Things got even better for the title favourites when Gethin Vaughan added another try on 59 minutes which Lennon converted, but credit to the away side for refusing to wilt under the pressure and they managed to go over again on 63 through Tom James.

This joy proved to be short lived as Nant scored twice in quick succession courtesy of Sion Pringle and Derwyn Williams on 71 and 74 minutes, and despite a late rally from Bro it was not enough and Lennon put the exclamation point on proceedings with a stoppage time try and subsequent conversion.
