NANT Conwy continued their surge towards the WRU National League Division One North crown with a hard-fought 14-9 victory at Dolgellau.

The pacesetters came through some difficult conditions to move 11 points clear of Bala, and the title favourites will look to continue their rampant form when they entertain Bethesda on Saturday (2.30pm).

Despite the eventual result it was the home side that drew first blood when Gerwyn Thomas fired over a penalty following an infringement on eight minutes.

This seemed to wake up the visitors, who struck back almost instantly when Caron Davies crossed the white wash on 10 minutes after good work from former RGC star Carwyn ap Myrddin.

Thomas despatched another penalty on 16 minutes to give Dol a slender cushion, and he extended their lead further before the break with another free-kick after a scrappy passage of play on 34.

The away side reduced the arrears on 36 minutes with a penalty of their own from Davies , and he fired over two more following the interval to give them another vital win in their quest to regain the championships after losing it to Pwllheli last term.
