THERE was plenty of laughter and chatter as more than 100 past rugby players came together for a reunion.

The Past Players’ Day was hosted at Llandudno Rugby Union Club on Saturday.

The event acted as a celebration of club members, many who have hung up their boots. Former players and their families enjoyed a memorabilia corner as well as a couple of songs.

Robin Holden, organiser along with John Roberts, said: “The idea was hatched from a realisation that it was 14 years since the last reunion and that time had slipped by so quickly.

“We had about 100 hundred players from across the ages, the most senior being David Gillen who is now 90-years-old, but still looks like he could hold down a place in the team.

“Winford Jones also attended, the rugby master from John Bright School who taught many of those present how to play the game. All in all the opportunity to share a tale and sing a song or two made for a memorable day.”
