NANT Conwy took another giant step towards the WRU National League Division One North crown with a thumping 36-5 win over current champions Pwllheli.

The all-conquering side gained revenge for their semi-final defeat last weekend against Pwll’ by turning in another dominant performance which leaves them 11 points clear with five league games remaining.

Arthur Lennon got Nant off to a flyer when he touched down after 11 minutes, but the away side responded well and levelled matters on 28 when Osian Parry Jones produced a burst of pace before going over.

This provoked a strong response from the hosts, who were rewarded for a spell of dominance with a penalty try on 36 minutes, and they extended their lead shortly before the break when Gwynfor Morris barged over for a score.

After the interval saw the home side pull further when Morgan Dafydd rounded off a superb team move by crossing the white wash on 48 minutes, with Lennon despatching the conversion, and there was further success for the title favourites on 58 when Steffan Horan found space and managed to score another.

Lennon once again drilled over the extras, and the scoring was rounded off on 70 minutes when the outstanding Ifan Hughes darted over for yet another Nant try, which was converted.

Nant have the chance to make the SWALEC Plate final this Saturday when they take on Ystalyfera RFC in their highly anticipated semi-final clash.
