NANT Conwy turned in another sensational effort to reach the SWALEC Plate final with a 10-0 win over Ystalyfera.

The all-conquering side showed their class once again with a superb defensive effort which was the catalyst behind their success, and they will now take on Brynmawr on April 29 in Cardiff.

The WRU National League Division One North leaders seized an early advantage in what proved to be a hotly contested affair, and they got their noses in front on ten minutes when a sweeping team move resulted in Ifan Prys going over for the only try of the tie.

Arthur Lennon despatched the conversion in impressive fashion, and the remainder of the first period was played with a fierce tempo which saw both sides enjoy spells of dominance without adding to the scoreboard.

After the break saw both defences continue to dominate despite some impressive approach play, with the physical battle between the forwards remaining intense throughout.

Nant extended their advantage at a crucial stage on 65 minutes, and once again it was Lennon who was the man to do so with a well-struck penalty under pressure.

This proved to be telling as the rearguard held firm in the face of some intense pressure in the closing stages to gain a significant triumph against high quality opposition and reach the final of what is one of the most sought-after trophies in domestic rugby.

Their immediate attention must now turn to their pursuit of the Division One crown, with the long-time leaders enjoying a seven-point advantage over champions Pwllheli with just a handful of games remaining.

The title favourites face a difficult trip to Llangefni on Saturday, before hosting Ruthin on April 14.
