NANT Conwy continued their surge towards the WRU National League Division One North title with a 50-20 victory at Llangefni.

The all-conquering side opened up an eight-point cushion at the top with a game in hand, but the hosts got off to the best possible start when Gethin Andrew squeezed over in the corner after a minute of play.

This lead did not last long as Tom Oliver scored the visitors’ first try on nine minutes, with Jack Moriaty showing his class with a superb score on 14. Arthur Lennon despatched the extras.

A scrappy period on a difficult surface followed, but Nant ensured they had a comfortable cushion at the interval when Gethin Vaughan crossed the white wash, with Lennon adding the conversion, but Cefni did get some more points on the board in the final action of the half through a Richard Foulkes penalty.

The assured boot of Lennon hit a penalty of his own after the break on 50 minutes, and this was swiftly followed by Vaughan’s second try of the afternoon which Lennon converted on 57.

This was followed by a rampant spell from the away side that resulted in Carwyn Davies and Morgan Dafydd touching down in quick succession midway through the period. Lennon added both extra-point attempts.

The home side were still fighting and went over again through Dion Oliver on 73 minutes, but a well-worked try from Cai Jones that was converted by Sion Pringle rounded off the scoring and secure another huge win for the championship favourites and SWALEC Plate winners.
