NANT Conwy remain on course for the WRU National League Division One North crown with an emphatic 43-12 triumph over Ruthin.

The long-time leaders gained revenge for their defeat to Ruthin earlier in the campaign, and they are now 12 points clear of Pwllheli having played a game more.

The hosts got off to a strong start when Jack Moriarty evaded multiple tackles before going over on seven minutes, with Sion Pringle adding the extras.

A cagey period ensued following the score, but Nant managed to extend their advantage on 22 minutes when Carwyn Ellis crossed the white wash. Pringle drilled over the conversion.

Pringle went from kicker to try scorer on 32 minutes when he finished off a fine team move with Arthur Lennon firing the extras, and their increased their lead soon after when Lennon dotted over on 34.

He also despatched the conversion attempt, and the home side finish off the first period strongly which resulted in Ellis going over for his second of the afternoon.

Nant wasted no time in making their presence felt after the break through quick-fire tries from Rob Parry and Moriarty, one of which was converted by Lennon, but the visitors ensured they had something to show for their efforts when Josh Wilson and Callum Donnelly touched down late on, with Emyr Gwynedd successful with one of the extra-point attempts.

The title favourites have a free weekend in preparation for their SWALEC Plate final against Brynmawr, which will take place on Sunday, April 29 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
