AN aspiring rugby league prospect received a huge honour thanks to a recent international appearance.

Will Lynch, a Lower Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, earned representative honours for the Welsh Rugby League U16 squad against Ireland and England last summer during a special tournament featuring some of the best young talent in the country.

He received his international cap at a special ceremony in Cardiff last month, and this is the latest in a long line of accolades for the sports scholar.

It has been a strong start to life at Rydal Penrhos for the 17-year-old, who is developing all aspects of his game under the guidance of the school’s dedicated coaching and strength and conditioning staff.

The talented youngster plays club rugby for one of the best amateur sides in Great Britain – Leigh Miners Rangers Academy – a set up that has produced numerous professional and international players over the years.

He was also successful in achieving a U16 scholarship at Salford City Red Devils, and has also represented RGC U16s in the rugby union discipline.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Will is an incredibly hard-working individual that has a great willingness to learn and get better, which is something that is the cornerstone behind his recent success.

“He has been an absolute pleasure to have here at Rydal Penrhos since arriving at the start of the academic year, and Will can now proudly add his name to the line of international sportsmen and women that have come from the school.”
