LLANRWST United manager Barry Owen has resigned from his role at the club.

The Rwsters announced the news on Wednesday, March 7, with the departing boss choosing to step down from the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side due to personal reasons.

Owen has led the one-time strugglers to a fine season this term, and has transformed the club from relegation candidates to title challengers thanks to a number of astute signings combined with a tenacious team spirit.

This has seen them competing with juggernauts Conwy Borough and Llangefni Town at the summit, and Owen leaves them in third spot and ten points behind the Tangerines with two games in hand.

A statement from Owen, said: “I regret to inform you that Llanrwst United Football Club have accepted my resignation with immediate effect due to personal reasons.

“Everyone that’s close to me knows how passionate I am about the club and I truly believe that I am leaving the club in a better position, not only in the league but also in the cup.

“I wish to thank all the players and staff that have played under me over the last six years, especially the last three as first team manager.

“Lastly I would like to place on record how thankful I am to the committee, especially chairman Chris Williams and secretary David Jones for not only giving me the opportunity to manage my hometown club, but for being so supportive to me during my tenure.”

No information on a successor has been revealed at the present time, with further details set to be released in due course.
