LLANRUG United were dealt a blow to their Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title hopes as they fell to a shock 3-1 home reverse to Trearddur Bay.

The promotion hopefuls were undone by a season’s best performance from the struggling side, who went ahead after 16 minutes when the prolific Craig Moore found the net.

The visitors finished the first period in superb fashion and increased their advantage on 38 when the outstanding Moore grabbed his second of the evening on 38, and things got even better for Bay immediately following the restart when Kieron Blackwell added a third.

After the break saw United give themselves a glimmer of hope when Dylan Owen reduced the deficit from the penalty spot on 63 minutes, but that was as good as it got for the hosts as they fell to their second defeat on home soil this term.

There was better fortune for another fancies side as Llanrwst United emerged from a tricky tie at Llandyrnog United with a narrow 1-0 victory.

A second half strike from Josh Francis on 76 minutes was enough to separate the two sides, and the result leaves the Rwsters’ 16 points behind Llangefni Town with five games in hand.

Barmouth and Dyffryn United had a brace from Paul Lewis to thank for their impressive 3-0 triumph at Nantlle Vale, while Steffan Toplis netted twice for Pwllheli in their resounding 4-0 rout over Penrhyndeudraeth.

Rounding off Tuesday’s fixture success were Greenfield, who had an own goal, Ashley Durham, Sam Jones and Connor Hughes all on target in their 4-0 home win over St Asaph City.
