LLANDUDNO Albion geared up for Thursday’s Mawddach Challenge Cup final against Llandyrnog United with a 2-1 loss at Llanberis.

Paul Cheung’s men continued their disappointing run of recent results in what has been a gruelling run in for the one-time Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title hopefuls, who fell behind on six minutes when Gwyn Jones found the net.

Things did not get any better for the away side following the setback, and they fell further behind soon after when Jones popped up to notch his second of the afternoon after 18 minutes to double Llan’s advantage.

The visitors regrouped after the break and got themselves back into the contest on the hour mark when Joel Lloyd converted from the penalty spot, but they were unable to find a way past the resolute home rearguard in the closing stages to ensure Albion has nothing to show for their efforts ahead of their title at silverware this week.

Mochdre Sports continued their fine end to the Division Two campaign with a thrilling 4-3 triumph at Llanfairpwll.

The prolific Jordan Phillips was at his ruthless best to bag a brace for his efforts, with Ashley Seddon and Ifan Spencer also hitting the target for the away side.
