BODEDERN Athletic took the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two title race into another matchday after a 2-1 home victory over Pentraeth.

The promotion hopefuls still have a slim chance of securing the crown after a fine run of form to end the season, and they are now just two points behind Prestatyn Sports having played two games more than their rivals.

It would take a monumental collapse from the unbeaten leaders to let the championship slip away, and Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side can wrap things up if they win at Y Felinheli on Saturday.

The home side made a strong start to the contest and went ahead after just 19 minutes when the prolific Steven Whittaker continued his exceptional season with another fine strike on 19 minutes.

After the break saw the away side come out with much more intent, and they got back on level terms on 54 minutes when Gwyndaf Hughes hit a shock equaliser.

This provoked a strong response from the hosts, who responded well to the setback and crucially got their noses in front once again after 74 minutes courtesy of a Liam Hughes effort, and they managed to see out the closing stages to secure another vital three points.

Mynydd Llandegai closed out their Division One fixtures with an impressive 2-0 home success over third placed Llanrug United.

The home side netted the opener early on when Liam Willington superbly converted, and their win was confirmed late in the second period when another spell of possession resulted in Jamie Whitmore hitting the target.
