THE Rotary Club of Llandudno has paid tribute to their "selfless" president following his untimely death.

Alan Guinn died aged 80 on Monday, May 15. He had been unwell for a period of time.

Mr Guinn, who served for many years as a Llandudno Town Councillor and was mayor of Llandudno, joined Llandudno Rotary in 2005. He served as president in 2009/10 and again in 2015/16 and took on the role for a third time in 2022.

Mr Guinn is survived by his wife Brenda and his children.

A spokesperson from Llandudno Rotary Club described Mr Guinn as a man of "wit and easy charm".

Paying tribute to Mr Guinn on behalf of the club, he said: "We learned of the death on May 15 of our beloved president Alan. Alan had been unwell for a time but his departure has come as a shock to us all.

"Alan joined Rotary in 2005. He served as President in 2009/10 and again in 2015/16. It is a testament to Alan‘s embodiment of the Rotary moto 'Service Above Self' that he agreed to be our president for a third time in 2022, despite his indifferent health. This selfless service was recognised by the club when Alan was surprised to be presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship at the Charter Night he was hosting just six weeks ago.

"Alan was the instigator and organiser of various Rotary ventures such as 'Youth Speaks', 'Great Day Out' (entertaining Belarussian and Ukrainian children holiday-makers who were being hosted by the Chernobyl Childline North Wales) and latterly, the club’s Community Chest Award Scheme.
