A 10-year-old girl from Colwyn Bay has completed her Brownie Gold Award.

Emma Lidgett, member of the 3rd Old Colwyn Unit, has attended the Brownies for over three years.

Since joining the group as a ‘virtual brownie’ in 2020, the Ysgol Pen Y Bryn pupil has completed 12 interest badges, eight skills builders badges, six theme awards plus the bronze and silver awards.

Talking about her weekly meetings, where she was a sixer, Emma said: “I love going to brownies and now guides, we have great fun playing games, doing arts and craft. I have made lots of new friends.

“My favourite parts of the Gold award was doing the space badge and running a whole brownie meeting with drawing and games. I also loved the activity day at Ty Clwyd, where we built a fire and roasted marshmallows.

“When I get older, I would like to volunteer as a leader and help run the groups.”

To celebrate her achievement, she was awarded the certificate and the badges at a special ceremony.

Since September, Emma has moved up to Guides, the older section of the organisation for girls between 10 to 14 years old and looks forward to more adventures this year.
