THE MET Office has extended a weather warning for North Wales as Storm Gerrit strikes the UK.
A yellow alert for wind was issued earlier this week, with the warning coming into force at 6pm tonight (December 27) and finishing at 3am tomorrow.
The initial alert, which forecasted winds of up to 75mph in coastal areas, had covered Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire and Gwynedd.
A yellow alert is also in force for rain until 6pm today, covering Denbighshire, Conwy and Gwynedd.
A number of flood alerts are also in place for areas across the region.
The Met Office also warned strong winds could cause injuries from flying debris, damage to buildings and power cuts, as well as travel disruption.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "During Wednesday evening and night, a further spell of very strong south westerly winds is expected to sweep east to produce gusts of 50 to 60mph.
"There is also the potential for gusts of around 70-75mph near exposed coasts and over high ground.
"Heavy, squally showers will accompany these strong winds. The winds will ease later in the night."
