MOTORISTS have been urged to take care if they must travel as an amber weather warning remains in place overnight.

Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire and Gwynedd have been battered by high winds today as Storm Isha arrived in the UK.

The Met Office's amber warning for high winds remains in place until 6am tomorrow.

North Wales Police say driving conditions are particularly bad on the A5 and A470 between Betws-y-Coed and Dolwyddelan.

Also, the A494 is closed near Dolgellau due to a fallen tree.

North Wales Police said: "Driving conditions remain poor across parts of North Wales with lots of surface water on the roads, in particular on the A5 and A470 between Betws-y-Coed and Dolwyddelan.

"We are advising motorists to only travel if necessary.

"If you must travel, allow plenty of time for your journey and drive according to the conditions.

"The amber weather warning remains in place until 6am Please continue to follow Met Office for weather updates and Traffig Cymru Gogledd a Chanolbarth Traffic Wales North & Mid for the situation on the main roads."
