A WOMAN from Rhyl punched another person in the face at Colwyn Bay railway station.

Libby Spilsbury, 23, of South Avenue, was handed a one-year community order at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court today (March 27).

She admitted a charge of assault by beating during today’s hearing.

The court heard that the incident happened on September 16, 2023.

Spilsbury walked across to the platform where Susan Molloy, a woman in her 60s, was sat at, and asked her: “What the f*** are you looking at?”

Ms Molloy said she had heard a woman (Spilsbury) slip as she was walking down the stairs, but did not believe that this comment had been directed at her.

She then came up behind Ms Molloy and punched her to the right side of her face, which “greatly shocked” her and left her with a “massive headache” for the rest of the day.

The following day, Ms Molloy said she had a red mark on her skin as a result of the punch.

In mitigation for Spilsbury, who had two convictions for six offences including assaults of emergency workers, she was said to be “mortified” and “really ashamed of herself”.

Spilsbury, who had received a conditional discharge weeks prior to this incident, was “black-out drunk” at the time, so had no recollection of what had happened.

She was “shocked” and “embarrassed” when she learnt of Ms Molloy’s age.

Per the terms of her community order, Spilsbury must complete a three-month alcohol treatment programme, and 20 days’ rehabilitation activity requirements.

Spilsbury will also pay a total of £264 in costs.

Deputy District Judge, Roger Lowe, told her that her behaviour was “deplorable”, and that Ms Molloy was “not causing you any issues at all”.

“I want you to go away from court knowing that this is a serious offence,” he told her.
