One of the UK’s best-known chefs is set to raise thousands of pounds for charity when he hosts a special dinner in Colwyn Bay.

Bryn Williams is to show his support for ABF The Soldiers' Charity by getting behind the charity’s fundraising initiative - The Big Curry - when he hosts his very own curry night on Wednesday February 28.

The inspiration for the event at Bryn’s restaurant, Porth Eirias, and the UK wide campaign, comes from the British Army’s long-standing tradition of a love of curry, which originates from its long service in India and elsewhere in the Asian sub-continent, particularly during the days of the British Raj under Queen Victoria.

At just £35 per head, tickets for the event are selling fast with every penny raised going to support soldiers, veterans and their families in times of need.

As well as the first-class culinary experience, diners will have the honour of hearing from guest speaker Sergeant Rick Clement who overcame devastating and life-changing injuries sustained in Afghanistan to become an inspiration for others.

Bryn explained why he was supporting The Big Curry:

“None of us should underestimate the way in which war changes the lives of the brave people who go off to fight and the loved ones that they leave behind.

“I feel that the one hundredth anniversary of the end of The Great War this year is an opportunity not only to mark the great sacrifice made by people across the generations; it is also an opportunity to highlight that our soldiers still need our support in the 21st century.

“I am happy and humbled to have been asked to support The Big Curry and I am looking forward to hearing Rick’s story. I can guarantee that while guest will undoubtedly be moved there will be plenty opportunity for fun, good food and great conversation.”

Stewart Harris, Briefing Liaison Officer Wales, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity said:

“We're so grateful to Bryn for getting behind our campaign and hosting such an excellent event which will hopefully inspire others to host their own Big Curry.

“The money that all the guests contribute will go towards helping secure the futures and the independence of everyone that ABF The Soldiers' Charity helps."
