COLWYN BAY FC have bolstered their ranks with a double loan signing from Tranmere Rovers.

Young footballers Jack Mackreth and Max Power have joined the club on short-term deals in time to give the Bay a timely boost ahead of a set of crunch fixtures.

“I'd like to thank Les Parry and Shaun Garnett at Tranmere for allowing us to take both Jack and Max,” said Bay boss Dave Challinor.

“They are both young lads who are highly thought of and are really keen to prove themselves.”

The duo arrive in time to halt a developing injury crises at the Bay, with influential attackers Mick McGraa and Gaz Evans, who has sustained a broken foot, both ruled out through injury.

“It's been widely publicised that I have been looking to add to the squad and felt now was the right time to do something, obviously we've lost Mick McGraa & Gaz Evans due to injury and with illness etc. it's left us a bit thin on the ground.

“This may not be the last of the new arrivals, I'm waiting for an answer concerning a striker and if that doesn't materialise before Saturday, then hopefully there will be some movement next week,” Challinor said.

Challinor hopes that both players will provide some fresh options for his side, which he feels have flagged in recent weeks.

“Jack has experience of this level having been on loan at Burscough earlier in the season and whilst it will be a new experience for Max, I'm sure he adapt with no problems as he is a very good footballer with all the attributes to go a long way in the game.

“The lads have been fantastic this season but we've felt that over the past few weeks we've let things slip slightly. Colin and I have high standards and expectations and a few new faces will hopefully give everybody a boost and keep people on their toes as it obviously provides competition for places.
