An enigmatic post-punk virtuoso outfit will grace Abergele with a rare and no doubt unforgettable appearance this February.

Conwy’s noise rock maestros Maines will be returning to the scene - finally - at The Upstairs in Ginger’s Grill with some new music in anticipation of their eagerly awaited new EP.

The band’s first show of 2018 will be the debut of new material from the as-yet unnamed record - the follow up to 2016 debut EP Frequencies which was released on link2wales records and featured heavily on BBC Radio Wales’ Top Sounds of 2016 list.

The band’s unique sound moves fluidly through time signatures and a an impressive array of influences - from hip-hop instrumentals to Sonic Youth-esque noise rock and more than a touch of The Deftones more melodic moments - to forge a bewildering and constantly evolving experience.

For the uninitiated, Maines excel at creating sumptuous and incredibly layered instrumental soundscapes, punctuated with well deployed introspective and surprisingly incendiary political vocals.

Be sure to catch the elusive Maines, one of the scene's best kept secrets at The Upstairs at 9pm on Saturday, February 10. Admission is free.
