When a 20 year old L-rider was stopped by police after he and a female were on a scooter without helmets it could have led to jail.

Beneath the saddle of Max Chapman-Jones' scooter was cannabis worth £270 which at first he claimed was for his own use.

However he later pleaded guilty to possessing the drug with intent to supply.

Chapman-jones, of Mor Awel, Old Colwyn, was at Caernarfon crown court on Wednesday given an eight months prison sentence suspended for a year.

He must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work, with conditions including a drug rehabilitation requirement and Thinking Skills programme. Judge Huw Rees told him that messages on his mobile phone showed his involvement. The judge said : “You are a street dealer of cannabis.”
