A GENIUS fusion of farce, impending tragedy and clairvoyance will take to the stage for three nights in Colwyn Bay from tomorrow.

Colwyn Bay’s Present Stage Company will breathe new life into Nöel Coward’s 1941 play, Blithe Spirit, at Theatr Colwyn from tomorrow until Saturday.

The fantastical action follows sceptical novelist Charles Condomine, who invites self-proclaimed medium Madame Arcati to his home for a séance, hoping to gather material for a new book. When the hapless psychic accidentally summons the spirit of Condomine’s late wife, Elvira, his home and life are quickly turned into a shambles as his wife’s ghost torments both him and his second wife, Ruth.

Present Stage Theatre started life as the Colwyn Bay Operatic Players before a radical makeover in 2011.

Their inaugural show was John Godber’s Bouncers at the Conwy Civic Hall in September 2011, with the group going from strength to strength with their twice-yearly productions.

Blithe Spirit will take to the stage on all three days at 7.30pm, with an additional matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday. Tickets for the Friday and Saturday 7.30pm showings are £11.95 and £10.95 for the first night and matinee – available at theatrcolwyn.co.uk or on 01492 577888.
